Rhinophyma (nose surgery)

Rhinophyma is the final stage in poorly controlled acne rocacea. This results in the overgrowth of the oil glands in the nose, distorting its appearance and causing distress for the patient. Rhinophyma typically affects men over the age of forty.

Surgery is the most effective way to restore the normal architecture of the nose. It is important to understand that surgery only treats the rhinophyma, not the underlying acne rosacea. Medical management of the acne rosacea is essential to maintain the surgical results.

Treatment of rhinophyma is typically performed on an outpatient basis, so patients are able to go home the same day as the surgery.

What to Expect After Surgery

Dr. Hamilton frequently sees his patients the day after surgery to answer questions and demonstrate how to care for your nose. The next visit is approximately one week after surgery.
