Rhytidectomy (facelift)
Rhytidectomy has become the third most desired facial plastic surgical procedure in the U.S. While called a face lift, it actually involves only the lower third of your face. A face lift cannot stop aging; however, it can improve the visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying tissue, and re-draping the skin of the face and neck for both women and men.
At your initial visit, Dr. Hamilton will examine the structure of your face and skin texture, color, and elasticity. Individual risks will also be discussed, especially those related to medical situations such as high blood pressure, a tendency to scar, smoking, and any deficiency in blood clotting.
What to Expect After Surgery
Dr. Hamilton frequently sees his patients the day after surgery to answer questions and demonstrate how to care for your sutures. The next visit is approximately one week after surgery. Most patients experience very little pain following surgery. Some swelling and bruising is unavoidable, and you may want to use cold compresses to keep swelling to a minimum. In addition, you should keep your head elevated, avoid as much activity as possible, and report any undue discomfort.
Complementary Surgeries
Additional changes may be suggested to your brow, eyes, nose, chin, and neck areas.
